Baccarat is fast becoming a popular game as it does not require much thinking power- it’s simple and easy to play.
It is more like a roulette game than a strategized card game and has been suggested as a good game to play if a player is a fan of the slots but wants to move on to something with a better chance of winning. The low house edges in this game (it’s pretty much 50/50) mean that you have an increased likelihood of winning in comparison with other higher risk card games.
The amount of players for this game is generally quite large with spaces for up to 12 or 14 players at a table. There are also normally about 2-3 casino dealers. The table is similar to a craps table with a discard tray and shoe for the cards. Unlike some other casino games the players are sometimes involved in dealing the cards under the watchful eye of the casino dealer– obviously not in online Baccarat games. The shoe is used more often than not because a game is normally played with 6 or 8 decks of cards. This also means it is difficult to know what is coming next and card counting or trend spotting is near impossible for a player. The mini baccarat version usually has fewer players involved and does not allow players to touch the cards but really there is not much reason to do so anyway.
In this game like with blackjack there are 2 hands but that is where the similarities end as the 2 hands in this game doesn’t need any stand or hit decisions but simply a bet on which one will win. One is called the banker hand and one the player but this does not mean you have an allegiance to the player or the dealer to the banker they are simply 2 hands to bet on. The objective of the game or the hand that wins is the hand that adds up to 9 or gets closest to the value of 9.
You can place 3 different bets in this game, a bet that the player hand will win, that the dealer hand will win or that they will tie. There is normally a commission on the bankers hand of about 5% as they are to win slightly more times than the player but don’t let that stop you betting on them. The odds are almost 50/50 but the tie is very rare which is more like an 8/1 or 9/1 chance of occurring.
The value of the cards is different from other card game rules, the Royal cards or cards with a picture have no value, cards with a number are taken at that numerical value with the exception of the ace which counts as 1. When the cards are totalled if the card sum is over 10 then it is only the second digit that counts therefore if a 6 and 5 were shown then it would count as a total of 1 in Baccarat. So there is no bust like in Blackjack. Once you have placed you bet on either banker or player 2 cards are dealt out and then sometimes a third one is depending on the value of the cards. However every gambling site and casino alike will tell you do not need to have knowledge as to when a third card is dealt as it will be automatic on the dealer’s part.
This is the one card game that is said to be void of any strategies that can aid you in winning. However there are a few tips to remember that can help. First of all always avoid tie bets, the likelihood of a tie happening is very rare and is just a waste of your money. Another handy piece of advice is to try and avoid placing bets after a long roll of wins of either the banker or player hands. A general tip that applies to all gambling games is to be careful with your money. Only wager 25% of your betting money at any one time and bet more if you win more, less if you win less and so on so that you do not walk away from the table worse off than when you started.
